One of the few people making these bizarre fabricated accusation of Zinc being in violation of GPL and Zinc being a stolen code is actually an endless source of entertainment in Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris:1 room. He once took the entire Zinc source code, stripped all credit, slapped his own name on it, Demonic, and distributed it as his own creation. He then started distributing "his" modified version of Curfloo (Non GPL, proprietary software) thus violating US copyright law. Even Curfloo author has publically denounced this act but he continues to do so with no regards for intellectual property rights of others. The level of hypocricy is simply astounding. I'm reminded of this old saying. "It is better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt."

(2004/4/8): Author of Curfloo came into Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris:1 room about a week ago and publically denounced illegal distribution of his work. He also hinted at a firm legal action against the person violating his copyright. Apparently this violator was lurking in the room. Without a single word, he quickly took down "his" Curfloo webpage as if it never even existed. He promptly went back to spreading FUD about Zinc. :)
(2004/4/11): The infamous net.kook decided to pretend that he is now a creator and maintainer of yet another chat client. This time it's a called a Magnesium gui chat client. But here is the twist. The chat client he is now claiming to be the author of was actually created by author of Curphoo. Does he have any shame? I guess not.
(2004/9/8): The origin of the nick name net.kook is documented here in an email from Patrick J. Volkerding of Slackware. A fan of Slackware Linux was apparently in the Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris:1 chat room one day and overheard net.kook making an outragious claim and the rest is history.
(2004/11/11): Recently I've noticed that list of chat clients on carbonize.co.uk site says the chat client Magnesium was created by Jory Pratt. Of course this is incorrect so I emailed the webmaster telling him that the creator of Magnesium is actually Alex Mercader, creator of Curphoo. Webmaster later revealed to me that orignially Alex Mercader was noted as the creator of Magnesium but Jory Pratt was one who emailed and told him to remove Alex as creator and replace it with his name. It appears this nutty net.kook is still at it trying to make a name for himself by taking credit for other people's work. The fact is Alex did create Magnesium and Jory Pratt is at best a maintainer.
(2005/1/7): Someone else has also noticed the error in chat client list of carbonize.co.uk website as well. He has also notified the webmaster of carbonize.co.uk and now the webmaster has finally fixed the credit line to Magnesium client to say "Magnesium maintained by Jory Pratt". I wonder which chat client net.kook will try to "create" next.
(2005/4/10): It appears he has fooled some other people in believing he actually knows how to program. Gentoo mailing list reports that he is a developer. I wonder if he will start claiming that if he leaves gentoo development there will be 23 other developers that will leave with him. His gentoo developer's webpage here.

(2005/4/17): I discoverd a rather discontinuity in time regarding net.kook's status as a gentoo developer. A posting in KLUG mailing list states that he is a gentoo developer on March 11th while the announcement of him being officially a gentoo developer is dated April 2nd. Essentially he has been claiming to be gentoo developers for three full weeks before he became one. Another amusing tidbit to note, he claims that he is a "certified network security specialist". I wonder what sort of certification he is referring to.
(2005/5/12): It appears net.kook started pretending he was once a member of US Navy Seal. April 5th, 2005 chat log of his claim begins at 20:57:40. He is using the alias anarch_penguin that day. It just so happens son-in-law of IMParcival is an instructor at US Navy and he has never heard of this character Jory Pratt. Claim of Jory being a US Navy Seal is flat out lie. When questioned further about whether if he used another name as possible explanation, he scurried off like a roach under a bright light. Frankly pretending to be author some chat client is nothing compared to lying about being served in a military service. Lie such as this dishonors the men and woman who has given their lives to protect the very freedom we enjoy.
(2005/6/24): This seems to be the only involvement he has ever had with Slackware and I quote "This is same package as swaret but with worse support please check swaret which is officialy supported by slackware". Someone else has responded to his message and apparently Jory Pratt has been spreading FUD. I quote, "In closing, I will say that, while we will not go out and spread misinformation about swaret (the truth speaks for itself), we will vigorously defend slapt-get from your vile mis-truths. regards, Dan" Yet another evidence that Jory Pratt has some trouble with the truth. Doing google search for "jory pratt slackware" reveals no other evidence of his involvement with Slackware.
(2005/7/5): This is by far the most intelligent thing that came out of net.kook's mouth to date: "6/24/2005 21:38:41 Anarch_Penguin: mountainpenguin why the fuck do you not sit down you god dayum piece of shit chinc living on welfair well us honest people go out work and make an honest fucking living you son of a bitch should be exported" Of course he has once claimed to be a member of a infamous racist group Ku Klux Klan (KKK) in the past so his obvious racist comment is not a surprise.
(2005/8/26): It appears net.kook was claiming to be working on Broadcom wireless driver for Linux. Someone in the LFS:1 overheard this and quickly emailed Will Wilson who is involved in Broadcom project. Predictably Will has never heard of Jory Pratt. Here is an email I was forwarded.
(2005/11/13): Oddly there was a link in gentoo linux's bugzilla bug tracking system to this very page. Actually it wasn't really a bug but rather a record of how Jory joined the gentoo development team and a discussion about his performance. It appears some people aren't very happy with him due to his attitude problem. Surprise Surpise. There were links to email responses he gave to someone who was reporting a bug. Not exactly a friendly curteous response in my opinion. At one time he even claims to have submitted his resignation as a gentoo developer. I find this odd because his name still does show up on gentoo developers list. So.. Which is the truth? Also, what makes this even more odd is how this page was once accessible but now it has been blocked off for priviledged developers only. A priviledged access is required to view information regarding a gentoo developer? How nutty is that for an open source linux distro? On a related note, it appears this very page has been accessed numerous times in prior using links and wget from a gentoo mail server. Yes. 134.68.220.30 is mail.gentoo.org Huh? Gee.. Anyone care to guess who might be accessing this page from a gentoo mail server?
(2005/12/20): It appears net.kook is also a wife beater. Several days ago he decided to choke his own wife because he overheard a rumor in LFS:1 chat room about his wife having an affair with some other regular in that chat room. Apparently a chat room rumor is enough justification in his mind to physically assult his wife. Although I have his wife's id on ignore the whole time she was telling this story of assult, this information was confirmed by many others in the room. The irony is his wife is always first to defend this wife beater by merely dismissing every information on this page as a imaginative fiction. If she is reading this, all I can say is I hope you get some help.
